Oct 14, 2023 Solar Eclipse

Partial Solar Eclipse

3, 2, 1... cheese!

The October 14, 2023 solar eclipse will be visible all across Canada. Nationwide, we are all going to take a photo of it at the same time!

The eclipse will look different depending on where you are and illustrates the roundness of Earth. Neat, huh?

When do I take the photo?

Look for your time zone below and try to take a photo at that time.

  • Pacific: 9:45 AM
  • Mountain: 10:45 AM
  • Central: 11:45 AM
  • Eastern: 12:45 PM
  • Atlantic: 1:45 PM
  • NDT: 3:15 PM

Note: the Newfoundland Time is intentionally an hour ahead so there is some visibility of the eclipse.

How to take the photo?

Make sure you have a pair of eclipse glasses. Then, carefully place the filter in front of your camera lens and point it at the sun.

This is easier if you have a smartphone tripod.

Zoom in, focus, and take the photo.

How do I submit?

Use the form below! I'll gather all the photos, then randomly draw a winner and send them some prizes. Yay!
