What Your Class Will Learn
- how the Webb Telescope is designed (mirror, sunshield, and more...)
- how big the Webb Telescope is
- how the telescope was launched into space
- where the telescope is in space right now
- how it captures images
Activity
Students will receive a brief presentation on the Webb Telescope, then be handed out sheets of paper with instructions and begin cutting and gluing their own model.
Augmented Reality
If time and space are available, an augmented reality version of the telescope can be demonstrated using an iPhone or an iPad.
The telescope is about the size of a tennis court. In the augmented reality demo, kids are able to explore parts of the spacecraft (sunshield, mirror, antenna, etc...)
